Ponder: Mindful Meditation

I just returned from a 5 day trip to Napa/Sonoma and San Francisco with my best friend of 35 years to celebrate my 40th birthday! (More about this amazing trip later:)) The reason I mention this is because I have come to realize one thing about Californians…they are a laid back bunch!  People are typically friendly and overwhelmingly mindful. Driving on the 101 near San Francisco was pleasant and people let you over if your turn signal was on.  Now this is the exact opposite of what occurs on the Beltway driving in the DC metro area.  Maybe some meditation is in order for us East Coast-ers who seem to be a bit more stressed out than our West Coast counterparts.

The Chopra Center out of Carlsbad, California hosts an online 21 day Meditation Challenge twice a year.  It is free, quite enlightening, and starts today!  You receive daily emails for the 21 day duration with a link and a small write up about the featured mediation of the day. They last anywhere from 5-20 minutes and remain online for about 1 week after the session closes in case you start late or miss a day here or there.  I would highly recommend giving it a go especially during the summer when we all can hopefully take the stress level down a notch or two. Oh, and while you’re taking the time to become more mindful and relaxed…hang this door hanger on the door knob so no one will disturb you…or at least be mindful of your need for time to become more mindful yourself:)
