Cocktails can be a rather high maintenance prospect , but they don’t have to be especially if you have the delightful and delicious Cocktail Crate mixers! Alexander Abbott Boyd has created some of the finest organic mixers around! He was kind enough to send me a bottle of Ginger Bee. I love that Cocktail Crate’s mixers are organic and handmade using the freshest ingredients available.  While on an unexpected ski holiday last week, I packed my bottle of Ginger Bee, Pimm’s and light rum.  (Directions on the bottle call for dark rum, which I think would be a better choice, but didn’t have any. Bummer, I know!)

After being frozen on the slopes of the Appalachian Mountains, with three kids I might add, we were definitely in need of something soothing, warm and alcoholic!  Kara, “The Bestie”, and I played around with some different variations of the drink. We mixed the rum according to the directions on the bottle, and it was quite yummy!  Although, we did wish we had that dark rum!

Since I also brought the Pimm’s, we gave that a go. Interesting…the fruitiness of the Pimm’s was a delightful complement to the mixer, but it still needed something.  Kara brought just the perfect accompaniment, Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea…decaf as it was getting rather late, and we needed to get a good night’s sleep so we were in tip-top shape to hit the slopes the next day!

Kara and I figured we would start with the Ginger Bee, tea, and rum combination. After preparing the tea, we mixed and sipped. It was pretty lovely but cried out for more.  But more of what?!?  Hmm, what about a bit more Ginger Bee and Pimm’s? Oh, yeah! Perfection!

This delight needed a name, but what to call it! Kara and I, with the help our three crazy kids, tried to combine our names to come up with a fanciful title for our creation.  Kar-a-lia? Ka-lia? A-ma-kara? None of our combination names sounded quite right and were honestly hard to pronounce.  How about simply “Seven”? We were in Seven Springs, right? And that is how “Seven” in Seven Springs was born! (See recipe below.)
